Israeli aircraft struck the runway and storage facilities at the Abu al-Duhur airbase in eastern Idlib province of Syria before dawn on August 18.

The base lies roughly 70 kilometers from the Turkish border. Turkey maintains forces inside Syria while issuing statements on Israeli sovereignty matters.
