UK police have opened a terrorism investigation into the murder of former minister Ann Widdecombe, who was beaten to death at her home. The probe now examines whether the attack was pre-planned and whether additional right-wing politicians were also targeted.

Widdecombe belonged to Nigel Farage's UK Reform party. Party figures criticized police for initially labeling the killing a botched robbery and for not declaring all investigative lines open from the outset.
