Secretary of State Marco Rubio published a State Department essay outlining the US decision to dismantle the International Criminal Court. Rubio stated that the ICC seeks to override American courts and target US soldiers, agents, and elected officials abroad.

The ICC has previously issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders including Prime Minister Netanyahu in connection with the Gaza conflict.
