Iranian and Omani deputy foreign ministers met in Tehran over the past two days to discuss maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated the talks covered shared principles and practical mechanisms for managing the situation.

The meetings took place amid efforts to prevent further escalation in the Middle East and as Gulf states remain divided on approaches to ending the war with Iran.
