Sarah Mittelman, a former chair of the Clark County Democratic Women, announced her candidacy for Washington state office as a Republican. She said the October 7 attacks and subsequent rise in antisemitism within the Democratic Party prompted her switch.

Mittelman had previously held leadership roles in local Democratic organizations before changing her party affiliation.
