US President Donald Trump had warned that an Iranian attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz would trigger an American strike on Iranian civilian infrastructure such as a power plant or bridge. On Saturday night the Middle East awaited the expected US response.

The Iranians challenged the warning and the planned strike was canceled.
