Twelve years after ISIS carried out mass killings and enslavement against the Yazidi community in Iraqi Kurdistan, Israel has not issued formal recognition of the events as genocide. Kurdish-Jewish analyst Elyana Elyan and Yazidi survivor Aram Aqil appeared on i24NEWS to advocate for such recognition and to note connections to the October 7 attacks.

Aqil described the rescue of a Yazidi woman who had been kidnapped by ISIS as a child, trafficked into Gaza, and freed after a decade in captivity.
