Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar described Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights as historic. He thanked President De La Espriella and Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar for the decision.

Sa'ar said the move followed his meeting with the Colombian president in Barranquilla last Thursday and reflected the president's leadership and commitment to Israel.
