Charred First Temple beams unearthed in City of David...

Archaeologists uncovered charred wooden beams from the First Temple period in Jerusalem's City of David. The beams, preserved for roughly 2,600 years under melted plaster, date to the Babylonian destruction of the city in 586 BCE.

The find supplies direct physical evidence of that ancient event.
