Mossad director meets Syrian foreign minister in effort to lower tensions with Turkey...

The Mossad director met with the Syrian foreign minister after Israel struck a Syrian airbase to block Turkish military presence there. Israel warned that Turkish air-defense systems at the base could threaten its operations over Syria and the corridor toward Iran.

Syria stated it still seeks a U.S.-mediated security arrangement with Israel, calling it a historic opportunity while noting it does not currently trust Israel. Israeli security experts urged diplomacy to avoid confrontation with Turkey.
