Retired Maj. Gen. Gil Regev stated that he feels he has more in common with Palestinians than with Minister Bezalel Smotrich. He dismissed shared Jewish identity between them as nonsense.

When asked why he continues to live in Israel, Regev replied that he is old and has nowhere else to go.
