Debbie Saslaw, a former staffer for Zohran Mamdani's campaign, faced backlash after claiming the Aug. 14 attack at Manhattan’s Central Synagogue was not antisemitic.

She later stated she was mistaken, having based her initial assessment on the belief that the alleged attacker was an Orthodox Jew.
