Iran has appointed former Revolutionary Guards commander Mohsen Rezaei as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. The move follows the resignation of Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr.

Rezaei is a veteran hardliner with a long record in Iran’s security apparatus and presidential politics.
