A Democratic candidate running for a House seat in Michigan described the March 2024 collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, which killed six workers, as a “climate activist’s dream” because it disrupted coal exports from a major port.

The same candidate, during a podcast appearance, also praised the Houthis, the Iran-backed Yemeni militia that has attacked commercial shipping in the Red Sea including vessels with Israeli connections.
