Josh Kushner, managing partner of Thrive Capital, and former Disney CEO Bob Iger have agreed to purchase a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Lakers for a record $12.5 billion.

The buyers described themselves as lifelong NBA fans and expressed honor at becoming stewards of the franchise.
