Gallego leads Senate Democrats calling for halt to E1 settlement construction plans...

Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) led 29 Senate Democratic colleagues in a joint statement urging the Israeli government to reverse its decision to allow settlement construction in the E1 area of the West Bank.

Critics of the plans argue that building in E1 would sever East Jerusalem from the rest of the West Bank and eliminate the possibility of a contiguous Palestinian state.
