France reacted with outrage after high school protesters adopted the rap song MRH, which references Islamist terrorist Mohammed Merah. Merah carried out the 2012 attack on the Ozar Hatorah Jewish school in Toulouse, killing Rabbi Jonathan Sandler, his sons Arieh and Gabriel, and eight-year-old Myriam Monsonego.

The song highlights the 19 March 2012 shootings at the school gate and courtyard, where Merah targeted victims specifically for being Jewish.
