US envoy Tom Barrack reversed earlier comments and reaffirmed former President Trump's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War and annexed the territory by law in 1981. UN Security Council resolution 497 declared the annexation null and void shortly afterward.
