New York City’s request for proposals for five city-run groceries requires operators to offer kosher, halal, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and diabetic options. The Orthodox Union and Kof-K have reported receiving no contact from mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on the kosher provisions.

Jewish agencies told JNS they remain unaware of any outreach from Mamdani regarding implementation of the dietary requirements at the planned facilities.
