A national co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America said she would have attended an anti-Israel rally in Times Square one day after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks if she had been in New York City. She described the attacks that killed more than 1,200 people as largely inevitable.

The remarks were made during a public appearance last week and highlight anti-Israel positions held by some progressive political figures in the United States.
