Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that a potential framework agreement with Israel does not legitimize what he refers to as the occupation. He emphasized that such an agreement would allow the Lebanese army to extend its control over all territories within Lebanon.

Aoun also addressed the separation of the Lebanese file from U.S.–Iran negotiations, indicating that this poses challenges for Lebanon, which he feels has decisions dictated to it by external forces.
