Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani visited Islamabad, marking the first visit by a Syrian foreign minister to Pakistan since the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024.

During the trip, Damascus signaled it is considering participation in a Mecca Joint Defense pact while rejecting any move to strengthen ties with Iran.
