New invasive ant species detected in Israel for the first time in Haifa...

The Environmental Protection Ministry has identified the African big-headed ant for the first time in Haifa's Neve Sha’anan neighborhood. The species ranks among the world's 100 most harmful invasive species, with reports from other city areas now under review.

The ministry is coordinating with the Haifa Municipality, Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and Tel Aviv University to expand monitoring and develop targeted pest-control measures.
