Israeli pediatric cardiologist Dr. Sagi Assa traveled 2,500 miles to Rwanda after an urgent request to treat 11-day-old baby Angel, who was born with a rare, life-threatening heart defect.

Working with Rwandan doctors, the team performed the country's first high-risk catheter procedure of its kind and saved the newborn without open-heart surgery.
