The Trump administration is ending Syria's diplomatic isolation by lifting long-standing U.S. sanctions. Lawmakers are divided over whether that relief should have been conditioned on steps toward normalization with Israel.

Rep. Brad Sherman said the administration should urge Damascus to improve economic ties with Israel.
