The recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Israel has been characterized by some as a step toward peace. However, experts from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) clarify that this agreement is primarily focused on defense collaboration rather than addressing the long-standing conflicts in the region.

The MOU emphasizes security assistance and military financing, with no provisions for resolving political disputes or fostering peace negotiations. According to the FDD, while the agreement reinforces U.S.-Israel ties, it should not be mistaken for a comprehensive peace deal.
