32 years later, US recognizes Brooklyn Bridge shooting as antisemitic attack...

The US Justice Department has formally recognized the 1994 Brooklyn Bridge shooting that killed Chabad-Lubavitch teenager Ari Halberstam as an antisemitic attack. A letter from then-US Attorney Jay Clayton states that federal authorities would today investigate the incident as a civil rights violation and seek prosecution.

The recognition comes 32 years after the attack and marks the first such federal acknowledgment for the Halberstam family.
