Israeli forces carried out eight strikes on the Abu al-Duhur air base in Syria's Idlib province on August 18. The attacks destroyed the runway and military facilities to prevent Turkish deployment and maintain an agreed security status quo.

The operation follows Israel's established doctrine of denial before emplacement. This approach now accounts for Turkish strategic positions ranging from northern Cyprus to a missile testing site in Somalia.
