The office of New York City Mayor Mamdani disputed former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel's account of a private meeting between the two.

Emanuel said he confronted the mayor over the slogan "from the river to the sea," stating that a future without a Jewish homeland would come only "over my dead body.
