Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa appointed Mazloum Abdi, former commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, as presidential adviser.

The appointment follows Abdi's announcement two days earlier that the SDF would dissolve as an independent force and integrate its personnel into the Syrian army.
