Extended crossing times on Shabbat at Skokie intersection...

Skokie mayor Ann Tennes stated that pedestrians at a local intersection needed more time to cross on Shabbat. She noted families pushing wheelchairs and with small children were unable to complete crossings safely under existing timings.

The change addresses needs in the heavily Jewish village where many residents walk on the Sabbath.
