The Israel Defense Forces killed Mahmoud Fatair, a Palestinian Islamic Jihad Nukhba commander, in a strike in Deir al-Balah. Fatair was accused of participating in the October 7 attack and holding Israeli hostage Rom Braslavski.

The IDF stated that Fatair was targeted for his role in the Hamas-led assault on Israel.
