Damascus and Moscow reach deal for Russia to maintain 2 bases in Syria...

Syria announced a deal with Russia regarding the future of Moscow’s two remaining military bases in the country. The bases will become joint training centers while Damascus regains control of adjacent civilian facilities.

Russia will retain a presence but with reduced authority, marking an assertion of sovereignty by Syria’s post-Assad government. Moscow has not yet confirmed the agreement.
