Rabbi Yaakov Farber, a Belz Hasid, passed away at age 32 after his condition deteriorated during a medical procedure. He founded the Ma'alot Tzur initiative to integrate haredim into the Israeli military.

Farber's efforts focused on encouraging ultra-Orthodox participation in national service.
