Rabbi Dr. Yitzhak Alfasi, one of the foremost scholars of the Hasidic movement, died at age 97. He authored roughly 90 books and essays examining Hasidic history and its leading figures.

Alfasi was widely regarded as a preeminent authority on Hasidism within Israeli religious circles.
